13 June 2026 STATE

The Tamil Nadu government has launched the Singappen Special Task Force, an all-women police unit dedicated to preventing crimes against women and children.

Headed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) K Bhavaneeswari, the unit will deploy about 2,500 personnel in its initial phase. The government has allocated ₹354 crore for this initiative.

The Kerala government has launched the Hostile Activity Watch Kernel (HAWK), which is the first fully digitised and judiciary-integrated wildlife offence management system of India.

The HAWK operates as a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to manage wildlife crime data and support enforcement efforts. The system integrates forest records with the District Court Management System through an Application Programming Interface (API), making Kerala the first state in India to implement such a judiciary-integrated framework.

The Himachal Pradesh government has signed an MoU with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to promote climate-resilient development, environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and inclusive growth in the state.

Additionally, CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has launched the ‘Safai Mitra Scheme’ to empower informal waste management workers.

West Bengal has officially implemented the Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), becoming the 36th State/UT to join the scheme.

This marks the completion of a 100% nationwide rollout of the world’s largest publicly funded health assurance scheme across every state and UT in India. It is to be noted that the central government has allocated ₹3,505 crore to West Bengal under the National Health Mission (NHM) for FY27.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia and Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha have launched the ‘Tripura Mission Queen Pineapple’ at Sanchar Bhawan in New Delhi. The initiative is a ₹236 crore convergence-led project focused on pineapple cultivation and value chain development.

The mission aims to bridge existing gaps through convergence-led investments and market-oriented interventions to enhance farmer value realization, while promoting Tripura’s GI-tagged ‘Queen Pineapple’ as its Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

DK Shivakumar has been sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka, with the oath of office and secrecy administered by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.

He succeeds Siddaramaiah, who resigned from the position following a planned power-sharing arrangement. Dr G Parameshwara has been sworn in as the Deputy CM of Karnataka.

The central government has notified two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the UT of Puducherry, with a total proposed investment of ₹1,975 crore. These include an IT/ITES SEZ and a Multi-Sector SEZ.

The IT/ITES SEZ is being developed by the Oulgaret Municipality at Thattanchavady village in Oulgaret Taluk, making it the first SEZ project in India to be developed by a municipality. The Multi-Sector SEZ is being developed by the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC) at Karasur village in Villianur Taluk.

The West Bengal government has started the enrolment for the ‘Annapurna Yojana’, also known as the ‘Annapurna Bhandar’ scheme.

The scheme aims to empower women and support households by providing monthly financial assistance to eligible women (aged 25-60) who do not have a fixed income, government salary, or pension.

The Chhattisgarh government has launched the ‘Adarsh Shahar Samriddhi Yojana’ with a budgetary allocation of ₹200 crore for the 2026–27 period to develop modern civic infrastructure in emerging towns and urban centres.

The state’s Urban Administration and Development Department has released the guidelines and the phase-1 execution layout for the scheme.

The Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), has announced the launch of an angel fund through the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) in New Delhi.

The initiative aims to make the state a hub for deep-tech innovation by providing startups with early-stage funding, industry access, ecosystem support, and global scaling opportunities.

India has launched its first electric hydrofoil vessel, the “Candela P12” (also called a “flying boat”), in Mumbai.

Developed by the Swedish manufacturer Candela, the vessel will be operated by JalVimana. The deployment is part of the initiative of the Maharashtra government to strengthen water-based transport infrastructure.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia has virtually launched the ‘Coffee of Nagaland’ mission worth ₹175 crore at Sanchar Bhavan, New Delhi, to promote coffee cultivation and strengthen the livelihoods of farmers.

Under the initiative, two pilot coffee clusters have been identified: Tuophema village in Kohima district (for Arabica coffee) and Ghotovi village in Niuland district (for Robusta coffee).

Additionally, a pilot project worth ₹49.48 crore, titled ‘Cluster-Based Coffee Value Chain Development in Nagaland’, was launched to establish an end-to-end coffee value chain from cultivation to marketing.

The Maharashtra government has signed MoUs with four key companies, namely NTPC Ltd (NTPC), Adani Power Ltd (APL), Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), and Lalitpur Power Generation Company Ltd (LPGCL), in Mumbai to attract investments worth ₹6.5 lakh crore for the development of nuclear energy projects.

These projects are projected to establish a total power generation capacity of 25,400 megawatts (MW).

Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia has attended the 51st Statehood Day celebrations of Sikkim at Manan Kendra in Gangtok. During the event, he launched the ‘Mission Sikkim Organics’ with an outlay of ₹360 crore to strengthen organic farming and sustainable agricultural practices in the state. It is to be noted that Sikkim celebrates May 16 as its Statehood Day, marking its integration with the Union of India in 1975.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Mizoram CM Lalduhoma have launched the ‘Mizoram Ginger Mission’. The initiative, with a financial outlay of ₹189.79 crore, is designed to enhance ginger cultivation and value chain development in the state. It also aims to promote Geographical Indication (GI)-certified pharma-grade Mizo Ginger in international markets.

Tripura has become the first state in India to complete all Priority Areas under Deregulation Phase-II of the national Compliance Reduction and Deregulation initiative, spearheaded by the Cabinet Secretariat.

The state is the first in the country to successfully implement all 51 Priority Areas under both Phase-I and Phase-II of the reform programme. The reforms, launched in January 2026, aim to enhance the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and strengthen technology-driven governance through comprehensive regulatory improvements.
