Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has partnered with Amazon to develop customized AI chips for Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centres. The partnership is valued at over $60 billion.

Chhattisgarh has secured the first position in the country in the third phase of the “Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari” (JSJB 3.0) initiative, a community-driven water conservation programme under the “Catch the Rain” campaign of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The state successfully completed 77,719 water conservation structures out of 79,775 registered units. It is to be noted that the “5 Per Cent Model” implemented in the Koriya district promotes the voluntary allocation of 5% of agricultural land for the development of groundwater recharge infrastructure through coordinated local participation.

Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026 at the 73rd edition of the pageant held in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She was crowned by Opal Chuangsri, Miss World 2025 from Thailand.

Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh represented India at the international competition. It is to be noted that the Miss World Organisation (MWO) has scheduled the next edition of the pageant to be hosted in Tanzania in 2027.

Union Minister Amit Shah has presented the “President’s Colour” to the Goa Police during a ceremony held in Panaji, Goa.

The award was conferred recognising the distinguished service and dedication to public safety of the force for a period of more than 80 years.

India has achieved a double triumph by winning both the men’s and women’s titles at the Junior Hockey Asia Cup 2026 held in Hulunbuir City, China.

In the 11th edition of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup, India defeated South Korea 4-1 in the final to retain the title. This marks the 6th continental crown and 4th consecutive victory for the team. Captain Anmol Ekka emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with 17 goals.

In the 10th edition of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup, India secured its 3rd consecutive title after a 1-0 victory against China in the final. Sanika Chandrakant Mane of India was the joint-highest scorer with 7 goals, while Wei Qixiao of China was named the Most Valuable Player).

The Ministry of Coal, in collaboration with Coal India Ltd (CIL), has launched the “Comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Framework for Indian Coal Companies” in New Delhi. This marks the first comprehensive framework for the coal sector since the implementation of the Companies Act, 2013.

The framework was developed by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, to standardize CSR practices across the coal sector.

Axis Bank has launched the 4th edition of its flagship nationwide customer engagement initiative, “Sparsh Week”, across India from September 7 to 11.

The event was held under the theme “Act with Speed” to focus on enhancing the efficiency and responsiveness of customer interactions.

Adani Defence & Aerospace has signed a 5-year agreement with Indo-Russian Rifles Pvt Ltd (IRRPL) for the supply of indigenously manufactured 7.62x39 mm small-calibre ammunition. The ammunition is specifically intended to support the AK-203 assault rifle programme of India.

The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) under the Ministry of Mines (MoM) has signed a technology licensing agreement with the UAE-based Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to expand the NALCO aluminium smelter in Angul, Odisha.

Under the agreement, the DX+ Ultra technology of the EGA will be implemented for the expansion of the smelter.

NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), the international subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has partnered with Singapore-headquartered FOMO Pay to enable the acceptance of UPI Quick Response (QR) codes for merchants across Singapore.

The National Statistical Office (NSO) has released the inaugural report titled “Unincorporated Sector at the District Level: Insights from ASUSE 2025”. It provides granular data on enterprises across various districts for the first time.

The report highlights that the top 10 districts are concentrated within 4 states: Gujarat, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The top 50 districts are distributed across 12 states.

The United Nations has adopted the “Correct the Map” resolution with 164 votes to promote a more accurate global representation. The resolution, sponsored by Togo and backed by the African Union, advocates for the use of the “Equal Earth” projection as a replacement for the 16th-century “Mercator map”.

It is to be noted that the Mercator map distorts the relative size of landmasses. For instance, the true size of Africa is 14 times larger than Greenland, which is often misrepresented in older projections.

The DRDO has launched the ‘SHIELD’ (S-band High-Power Microwave Integrated Evaluation for Lethality and Damage) programme. The initiative aims to bolster indigenous capabilities in the emerging directed-energy technology sector.
