The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Union Minister Rajnath Singh, has accorded the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for various capital acquisition proposals worth ₹1.1 lakh crore.
In alignment with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, 98% of the total procurement value will be sourced from the domestic Indian industry to bolster indigenous defence manufacturing.
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) has unveiled three indigenous micro and small gas turbine engines designated as NJ-05, NJ-50, and NJ-100 at the CSIR Headquarters in New Delhi.
These engines, developed for deployment in defence Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and missile systems, feature thrust capacities of 5 kg (NJ-05), 50 kg (NJ-50), and 100 kg (NJ-100) to meet various operational needs. It is to be noted that these engines operate on the ‘Brayton cycle’, which is a thermodynamic cycle describing the workings of a constant-pressure heat engine.
Union Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the Transfer of Technology (ToT) of all conventional missile systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to domestic defence manufacturers.
The decision, announced in New Delhi, aims to enhance the participation of Indian private industries and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the national defence supply chain.

Kawa UAV Pvt Ltd (Hoverit) has successfully conducted the maiden flight of the first indigenous jet-powered loitering munition of India, named ‘Divyastra Mk3’. The test flight was carried out at the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The munition was developed with an indigenous jet engine by DG Propulsion, achieving this milestone within 1 year of the initiation of the programme.
USA-based GE Aerospace and the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) have finalized a technical agreement for the co-production of F414 engines. The deal has been under development for 3 years.
The engines will power the next-generation fighter aircraft of India, as the country intends to procure 120-130 such jets. These aircraft are planned to replace the existing fleet of Russian made aircraft currently in service.
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has inaugurated a new structure assembly line for the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) at its helicopter factory in Tumakuru, Karnataka. The facility features a dedicated LCH Structure Assembly Line and an Automated Storage & Retrieval System (ASRS).
It is to be noted that the Tumakuru facility currently has a production capacity of 30 helicopters per year, with plans to scale it up to 100 units annually. This expansion will help in the execution of a ₹62,700 crore contract for 156 additional LCHs, including 90 for the Indian Army and 66 for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
