Munitions India Ltd (MIL) has signed an MoU with Drogo Aerospace Pvt Ltd to collaborate on the design, development, and integration of indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and loitering munition systems.
Kawa UAV Pvt Ltd (Hoverit) has successfully conducted the maiden flight of the first indigenous jet-powered loitering munition of India, named ‘Divyastra Mk3’. The test flight was carried out at the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The munition was developed with an indigenous jet engine by DG Propulsion, achieving this milestone within 1 year of the initiation of the programme.
The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts worth ₹1,577 crore with TATA Advanced Systems Ltd and NIBE Pvt Ltd for the procurement of Loiter Munition Systems, along with munitions and accessories, for the Indian Army. The system is developed to enhance the operational capabilities of the Artillery Regiments.
