30 July 2026 AGREEMENTS

The Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) has partnered with the Global Stainless Steel Expo (GSSE) to promote the use of stainless steel for clean energy transition and sustainable industrial growth in India.

The collaboration aims to expand the application of stainless steel across sectors such as green hydrogen, renewable energy, mobility, infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing. It is to be noted that the stainless steel market of India is projected to reach $15.8 billion (₹1.36 lakh crore) by 2030.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has signed an MoU with Norway-based Tidal Sail AS to implement a 500 kW River Kinetic Energy Demonstration Project.

Being executed under the India-Norway Green Partnership through the Centre for Earth Sciences & Himalayan Studies (CES&HS), this initiative marks the development of the first River Kinetic Energy Demonstration Plant in India.

Chitkara University in Punjab has launched the Atal Incubation Centre–Chitkara Incubation Foundation (AIC-CIF) and AIC-PRIDE Labs. The initiative involves an investment of ₹20 crore over 5 years.

It aims to strengthen the deep-tech startup ecosystem in India by supporting startups in drone technologies, agritech, and renewable energy.

15 July 2026 BANKING

TPG Inc. has signed agreements to acquire a 100% stake in Aseem Infrastructure Finance Ltd (AIFL) from the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and other shareholders.

The acquisition is being executed through TPG Rise Climate, the climate investing platform of TPG. The transaction is undertaken in partnership with the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) and ICICI Bank Ltd. Upon completion, ICICI Bank will hold an equity stake of up to 5% in AIFL.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has highlighted that the VO Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) has achieved a 45% reduction in net carbon emissions, emerging as a model for sustainable maritime development. The port has also been recognised as a Scope-2 Emission Free Port.

During the event, the minister dedicated 6 key initiatives. The port released its inaugural sustainability disclosure, the "VOCPA Sustainability Report 2026" titled "Towards a Green Maritime Future", along with a case study by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta titled "The Hydrogen Pivot: Orchestrating the Green Transition at VO Chidambaranar Port Authority."

The port also inaugurated the 'vidya pravesh' (academic activities) for the 2026-27 academic year at the newly established Kendriya Vidyalaya located at the Port Colony in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

The World Economic Forum (WEF), in collaboration with Accenture, has released the “Energy Transition Index (ETI) 2026: Insight Report June 2026”. India is ranked 70th in the index with an overall score of 54.9.

Sweden topped the index with a score of 75.3, followed by Finland, Denmark, Estonia, and Norway. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is ranked last at 120th place.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has launched the 'Wind Turbine Materials and Resources Utility Tracker' (WT-MARUT) at the Global Wind Day Conference 2026 in Goa. It is India's first Wind Turbine Supply Chain Management Portal.

Developed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in collaboration with the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), the portal aims to strengthen domestic wind manufacturing and improve supply-chain transparency. The initiative is designed to support the national target of achieving 100 GW of wind energy capacity by 2030.

During the conference, the Union Minister also unveiled the Wind Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) Portal, a coffee table book titled 'Pawan Urja', and a series of knowledge and state-wise policy reports.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), an arm of the World Bank Group, along with global investors, has committed $105 million to Hygenco Green Energies Pvt Ltd to accelerate green hydrogen development in India.

This marks the first direct green hydrogen investment in India for the IFC, Siemens, and Fullerton. The total funding includes $50 million from the IFC, $25 million from Siemens, and up to $30 million from Fullerton.

1 June 2026 AGREEMENTS

Vinod Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Ladakh, has approved a 5-year extension of the MoU with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the development of the first geothermal power project in India.

Under the agreement, the ONGC will construct a 1 MWe pilot geothermal power plant in the Puga Valley of eastern Ladakh, at an altitude of over 14,000 ft.

26 May 2026 AGREEMENTS

The UK-based British International Investment (BII) has partnered with Denmark-based Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to launch “North Star”, a $300 million Renewable Energy (RE) platform to support the clean energy transition of India.

Under the partnership, BII and CIP, through the Growth Markets Fund II (GMF II), will each invest up to $150 million in the platform to support solar, wind, hybrid, and storage RE projects in India. The platform is projected to generate over 4 million Megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy annually while preventing 4 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
