The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a 1-year extension for TV Somanathan as the Cabinet Secretary of India. He is the 33rd Cabinet Secretary and succeeded Rajiv Gauba.

AS Rajeev, previously the Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), has assumed charge as the Acting Central Vigilance Commissioner on August 3, 2026.

He succeeds Praveen Kumar Srivastava. Prior to joining the CVC, he served as the MD and CEO of the Bank of Maharashtra.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (MoPP&P) has approved the foreign postings of senior bureaucrats. Rahul Jain has been appointed as the Senior Adviser to the Executive Director (India) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 3 years.

Baldeo Purushartha has been appointed as the Senior Adviser to the Executive Director (ED) at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines, for 3 years. Satyajit Mohanty has been appointed as the Representative of India in the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for 3 years.

Devesh Uttam has been appointed as the new Ambassador of India to Ethiopia. He succeeds Anil Kumar Rai.

Air India has appointed Tewolde Gebremariam as its new CEO and MD. He succeeds Campbell Wilson.

Varsha Ashok Aglawe has assumed charge as the 54th Director General (DG) of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), an organization under the Ministry of Mines (MoM).

She succeeds Asit Saha. It is to be noted that she is the first woman to lead the GSI.

Vice Admiral Manish Chadha has assumed charge as the Director General Naval Operations (DGNO).

He succeeds Vice Admiral AN Pramod.

Willie Walsh has assumed charge as the CEO of IndiGo. He succeeds Pieter Elbers.

Prior to this, he served as the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Kiran Thadimarri has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of IndiGo, the largest airline of India, effective from July 28. He succeeds Gaurav Negi.

Anurag Jain has been appointed as the CEO of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog for a tenure of 2 years. He succeeds Nidhi Chhibber.
