Dr Harvansh Chawla has been appointed as the Chairman of the BRISEC Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRISEC CCI). He previously served as the Chairman of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI).

It is to be noted that the BRISEC CCI was established in 2026 and is recognized by NITI Aayog.

R Mukundan has been elected as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the 2026-27 term. He succeeds Rajiv Memani.

It is to be noted that the newly constituted National Council of the CII has also appointed Suchitra Ella as the President-Designate and Shashwat Goenka as the Vice President for the same term.

Akash Ambani has been appointed as the first MD of Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL), the digital services subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), for a period of 5 years.

Ashok Kumar Panda has been appointed as the CMD of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). He succeeds Krishna Kumar Singh.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has nominated Priyanka Mittal, the Director of KRBL (Khushi Ram & Behari Lal) Ltd, as the Co-Chair of the Saudi-India Business Council (SIBC).

Dr Siddeek Ahmed, the Chairman of Eram Holdings, has been appointed as the Chair of the Indian side of the SIBC.

N Rangasamy, belonging to the All India NR Congress (AINRC) party, has sworn in as the Chief Minister (CM) of Puducherry for a record 5th term. The oath of office was administered by the LG K Kailashnathan.

Himanta Biswa Sarma has sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for the second consecutive term. He is elected from the Jalukbari constituency for the sixth consecutive time. The oath of office was administered by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at a ceremony held at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Guwahati.

Laura Virginia Fernández Delgado, belonging to the Sovereign People’s Party (PPSO), has been sworn in as the 50th President of Costa Rica for a 4-year term (2026-2030). She succeeds Rodrigo Chaves Robles.

Shashi Shekhar Vempati has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for a period of 3 years. He succeeds Prasoon Joshi.

Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani (Retd) has been appointed as the 3rd Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India. He succeeds General Anil Chauhan, whose extended tenure ends on 30 May 2026. Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan is appointed as the next Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) and will assume command on 31 May 2026. He succeeds Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Justice (Retd.) Anupinder Singh Grewal as the President of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for a period of 5 years. He succeeds Justice (Retd.) Ramalingam Sudhakar.

Lt Gen Madhavan Unnikrishnan Nair (Retd.) has been appointed as the Strategic Defence Advisor to Synergy Quantum. Prior to the appointment, he served as the 3rd National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC) at the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).

The Government of India (GoI) has appointed Dr R Balasubramaniam and Dr Joram Aniya as full-time members of NITI Aayog.

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has been appointed as the Festival Director for the 57th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. It is to be noted that the IFFI was established in 1952 and is one of the premier film festivals in Asia.

Parminder Singh has been appointed as the CEO of Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Ltd (REIL) with immediate effect. It is to be noted that REIL is a joint venture (JV) between Reliance Intelligence Ltd and Facebook Overseas Inc of Meta.

The RBI has approved the re-appointment of B Ramesh Babu as the MD & CEO of Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) for a third consecutive term of 2 years till July 2028.

Srikanth Velamakanni, the Co-Founder and Group Chief Executive of Fractal, has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) for the 2026-2027 term. He succeeds Sindhu Gangadharan.

Kishor Patil, the MD & CEO of KPIT Technologies, has been elected as the Vice Chairperson of NASSCOM.

Vibha Padalkar has been re-appointed as the MD & CEO of HDFC Life Insurance for a 5-year term. Her tenure is scheduled to conclude in September 2031.

The Government of India (GoI) has appointed Dr Ashok Lahiri, a veteran economist and former Chief Economic Advisor (CEA), as the Vice-Chairman of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog). He succeeds Suman Bery.

Dr Gobardhan Das, an eminent scientist and the Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has also been appointed as a full-time member of the NITI Aayog.
